The church was built from 1876 to 1882. Metropolitan Dabrobosanski Sava Kosanovic consecrated it.
Painting and icons were done between the two wars by Roman Petrovic, a painter. In April 1941, the church was bombed by German planes. On that occasion, a painting and an iconostasis with church inventory were destroyed in the fire. At the same time, the Ustashas destroyed a church archive in a parish home. Because of Ustasha terror, priests and believers left the parish and took refuge in Serbia. After the war, the parishioners returned to their hearths. The priest Veljko Mijatovic, who was shot by partisans in 1946, also returned. The second priest, Milos Jevdevic, left the priesthood service, leaving the parish without a permanent priest. From 1946 to 1949, the communist authorities converted the church into a grain store. Archpriest Dragoljub Savic from Sarajevo served the parish from 1949 to 1967, but the authorities did not allow him to worship. With the arrival of Milos Vidakovic, a jeweler, in 1967, the situation changed. The church and parish home have been restored. A small consecration of the church was performed on the Shroud in 1971 by Metropolitan Dabrobosanski Vladislav.
To celebrate the centenary of the church, ceramic tiles were placed on the floor and a new iconostasis was made. Maple tree iconostasis was made by Milivoje Rudovic, a wood carver from the village of Jelovci near Han Sand. The icons on the canvas were made by Dragoslav-Pavle Aksentijević, an academic painter from Belgrade. The new iconostasis was avenged by Metropolitan Vladislav in 1981.
During the 1992 war in BiH, Metropolitan Vladislav died in exile in Serbia. Bishop Dalmatinski Nikolaj (Mrđa) was elected Metropolitan of Dabrobosanski. Due to the state of war, Metropolitan Nikolai temporarily transferred the seat to Sokolac and thus the church of Sv. the Prophet Elijah became conciliar. By the decision of Metropolitan Nicholas the Church of St. of the prophet Elijah was called Romanesque Lazarus. Since then, on the Sunday after Vidovdan, at the level of the diocese, a spiritual council dedicated to Vidovdan has been held at the church.
In this holy place, ie in this Monastery, lie the Most Holy Martyr Velimir Mijatovic

A beautiful church with a parish home, and a beautiful park. I do not know anything about the history of the church, but what is not in the wind is on the googles. 😀
An extraordinary Orthodox temple with a neat port and ancillary facilities where people turn to God to gather and celebrate.
