Rupali Bank established under the Bangladesh Bank (Nationalization) Ordinance, 1972, is a publicly traded commercial bank. Rupali Bank was established with all the assets and liabilities of the Muslim Commercial Bank, Australasia Bank and Standard Bank, which were operating in East Pakistan. Rupali Bank approved the payment of Tk 500 million and Rupali 10 million Rupali Bank started banking activities in March 1972. In 1973, the paid up capital of the bank was increased to Tk 20 million. Later, in line with the growth of the bank's business activities, assets and liabilities, its approved and paid up capital was increased to 7 billion and Tk 1.25 billion respectively.
