Freshwater swamps, freshwater swamps or flooded swamps are types of forests that are submerged in freshwater all year round or temporarily. It usually develops along river basins and freshwater lakes.
Ratargul in Sylhet is one of the most famous water forests in Bangladesh. Compared to that, Lakshmi Bao's water forest is not yet known in that way. It is located on the banks of Kharati river in Baniachang upazila of Habiganj district. During the rainy season, it sinks in about 10 feet of water. Haor is one of the fish sanctuaries and a variety of birds take shelter here in winter. Apart from birds, various species of reptiles and mammals can be found in this naturally formed forest.
