Primary Education As part of undivided India, it is difficult to say when and where the formal introduction of primary education began within the geographical boundaries of Bangladesh. The seeds of formal education were sown in the subcontinent at the time of the writing of the Rig Veda, about 3000 years ago, which has changed to the present day. In the early stages of the introduction of formal education, there was no clear boundary between the primary and secondary levels. So it is very difficult to describe the primary education of that time separately but it is possible to construct the historical background of primary education in the subcontinent based on various relevant information. The main goal of education in ancient times was to improve the soul. Which required pursuit, thought and self-control. According to historians, there was a special kind of primary education in this country during the Vedic period. According to this idea, education was prevalent even in the pre-Vedic period, but it was exclusively temple-centric. There the priests had the right to practice only knowledge and they were mainly taught about worship. Besides, there were arrangements for learning agriculture, business, handicrafts etc. for worldly development. However, it is possible that Aryan education began in this subcontinent with the composition of the Vedas and this education of the Vedic age is also called 'Vedic education'. In the early Vedic period, education in this country was mainly religious and school meant Gurugriha. At that time celibacy or student life was divided into five levels. In this case, the period of education was 12 years at a time. In the first stage, the child would start learning at the age of 5 or take chalk in hand. It was the foundation of primary education. After being qualified for primary education, the Guru would adopt as a disciple a member of the family with sonly affection as a disciple. Judging by the age and suitability of the disciple, the Guru imparted knowledge to the disciples about the perceived spiritual theory. The disciples would then pass on the knowledge thus imparted to a similarly qualified person. In the early days, pedagogies were preserved as a family resource. Later, students from outside also came and started acquiring similar theories. As a result, with the emergence of various branches of Vedic education, its expansion also began to take place. Although the doctrines in the form of hymns were initially family oriented, gradually the hymns became different in nature and complex and various training centers or schools were set up in different places to train the priests in teaching (1000-600 BC). Although the education system of the Vedic period was not very well organized, the use of impersonal words, proverbs, ideas, etc. in the activities, culture, language of that period proves that the education system of that time was much better than other countries. However, only Brahmins among them had the right to study religion, philosophy, art, science and social institutions and they were the most prominent in the society. Mahabharata and Ramayana were written in the Vedic period.
