Baradushia Dakkhin Para Mosque Question: If a person who is unable to do ruku sijdah is able to perform namaz while sitting on the ground and gestures, will he perform namaz while sitting in a chair? Answer: If a person who is unable to perform ruku sijdah is able to perform the prayer while sitting on the ground and gesturing, then it is permissible to perform the prayer while sitting in a chair, but it is also a bad deed. And in the fatwa of Darul Uloom Deoband it has been called Makruh. In short, if the persons who are unable to do ruku sijdah are able to sit on the ground, they will sit and perform the prayer with gestures. It is makrooh for them to pray while sitting in a chair. Which must be avoided. And if a person who is able to bow and prostrate does so, then his prayer will not be pure. (See: Al-Kawthar)
