Greater Ishwarganj (Ishwarganj, Gauripur, Nandail and Netrokona districts) operates criminal proceedings in the upazila. The court was then set up by the then British government on 2 acres of 12 per cent of the land in Duttapara village of Ishwarganj municipality. The court then proceeded to litigate the civil litigation in parts of Hosainpur in Ishwarganj (Gauripur and Nandail), Phulpur and Kishoreganj. In 2002, the then Assistant Minister of Law announced the elevation of the Senior Assistant Judge Court to the Joint District Judge's Court.
