Love this museum. Sir Zainul Abedin is greatest artist in indian ocean. He is most famous person also. I visited this place many times with friends and family. Don't miss to visit this place, if you are visited here first time and go to walk for park. Recommended for all art and history lovers.

This museum is located at the northern end of Mymensingh city, surrounded by natural scenery on the banks of the Brahmaputra River and the memory of the great artist's childhood and adolescence, next to Zainul Abedin Park and Circuit House. It is as if some of the artist's extraordinary paintings are lying in nature. This museum has been operating since 1999 as a branch of the Bangladesh National Museum under the control of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.

I feel I was really lucky back then in childhood to visit this place. It was long ago, I guess in 2007 and today in 2020 I'm writing this review. It's changed a lot since then. Behind the museum there is brahmaputra river. We went there in the occasion of pahela baishakh. I remember boarding a boat for the first time in my life in brahmaputra river. If I talk about the museum from my childhood memory I don't remember everything much clearly except that one artwork. It is like printed in my mind that can never be erased "The struggle", his one of the best creations. It was all from my memory. Now I'll talk about the history of this museum. It was built in 1975 collecting the artworks of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin. It was established in Mymensingh because this is the place the artist spent his early days. He used to draw pictures sitting by the brahmaputra river. In accordance with Abedin's wishes, an art school has also been established in the museum grounds. Artists can stay at the Art Cottage which is located in a separate three-roomed building. (again I was really happy that time as I met an artist and he taught me how to draw our national flag; specially how to make the circle perfectly round and how to properly color so that the color doesn't cross the border). An open-air stage is used by students on study tours and may be rented by others.

I'm giving it a 5 star so that people visit this place, because there you will experience the mind of a genius. The paintings are well preserved (how many of them are originals, I don't know), but watching so many masterpieces together is an experience itself. You can buy some souvenirs (books and posters) too.
