The Dhaka State Railway constructed the Narayanganj-Mymensingh meter gauge railway in 184-65, during which time the Joydebpur railway station was opened. As a result of the construction of the 4.6 km (3 mile) long Jamuna Bridge in 1998, the need for railways was redefined. First, to connect the eastern part of the railway system with the western part, a new 99 km (62 miles) long dual gauge line was constructed from Joydebpur to Jamtail. The problem of two different gauges used in two different parts of the country was solved by introducing dual gauges. Second, the 245 km (152 miles) broad gauge track from Jamtail to Parbatipur was converted to dual gauge. As a result, Joydebpur was converted into a dual gauge railway station.

It’s the main junction of Gazipur city and connected with the whole Mymensingh division and North Bengal and Khulna division.
