JW Marriott Hotel Rio de Janeiro

The place is outdated, the carpets in the hallway are old. The details are all super dated.nnThe pool area is very basic, the view is okay, looks way better in the photos.nnThe service is super basic and almost subpar. Your requests get questioned, you're told no instead of yes until you get the yes.nnHousekeeping went into my room even though there was a privacy please sign. Which is completely unprofessional.nnI would not return here because I prefer something more modern. Location is nice.

Most of the staff speaks Portuguese only.nnHotel policy is very strict with regards to visitors to the room. So bare in mind before booking this hotel. if you have friends you want to take to your room or visit you, they will force to meet them outside the hotel... Kinda of very unpleasant feeling in this hotel... Remind me tiran countries like Cuba preventing locals to interact with tourists at the facility.nFront desk is very friendly and they are fluent in English.

My husband and I stayed here in August 2018, and the room was nice, and service was excellent throughout our stay, but staff truly stepped up when we needed help.nnWe were mugged while sightseeing on our last day in Rio, and with the help of a taxi driver who caught the tail end of the incident, made it back to the hotel physically unharmed. We had already checked out but the hotel was storing our luggage. The staff went above and beyond to help us settle up with the driver (who didn’t accept credit cards), and offered their facilities to allow us to sort out locking down our credit cards, cell phones and everything, and offered a kind word as I was totally beside myself for hours afterward. These very naive travellers couldn’t have asked for better support after a harrowing ordeal.

Loved the pool and staff service was amazing made it nice to stay there for the weekend Filipe was such a great guy sorted out so many issues I had defo going to stay there again and the breakfast was amazing views were so cool

the pool and bar at the top floor is perfect. alberto, the bartender, was super helpful and quite the personality
