Barraca do Banga

A little hard to find, but well worth the visit. Beautifully situated on the shore of a little river which runs into the ocean. It's great for taking a little swim in the river or in the ocean. When the tide rises, the ocean pushes up the mouth of the river flooding much of the beach. The local bar/restaurant has really delicious food for an overall low price (for Brazilian standards). The staff is very friendly and helpful but sometimes a little chaotic and forgetful (especially when it starts to get a little crowded). When we visited they ran out of supplies, so by mid-day some of the plates on the menu were not available anymore. But that's only logical if you consider the location and situation. It's the ultimate Brazil experience to have great food and beer, sitting on your chair when the tide comes in and you'll be with your feet in the water. Good place for children too, since you can easily track them wherever they go. The only downside is that the toilets/bathrooms are really dirty, but since that is found all across Brazil, you can't really complain about that. Great visit. We will definitely come back one day.

My favorite barraca in the Natal area. Relaxing place to spend a nice Saturday or Sunday (or any day) afternoon. They serve pasteis and tapioca recheado to kill for.
