Do not underestimate this amazing engineering construction! It's astonishing how two countries managed to work together towards a common goal. The tour visit was super informative and very detailed. Our tour guide explained and answered to all of our questions. And being inside and see the magnitude of the work is simple wonderful

ITAIPU DAM. We did the VIP TOUR, I’d so glad we did.nSo much info, It was so cool and I’ve never been on the inside of any dam to see really how it works and the control panels, It was so large, and so overwhelming.nn16 years of construction 18 generators. It used to be absolute largest dam in the world until China surpass them, imagine that!nComparable to the largest buildings of the world, the Panama Canal, the Channel tunnel, and the Egypt pyramids.n40,000 people constructed the dam. 190 species of fish, 65 stories high. I WOULD RECOMMEND.

This is a massive dam with breathtaking views of the surrounding lake. The bus tour is absolutely worth every real as it brings you across the entire dam and treats you to views you won't have ever imagined possible. The hum of the generator turbines and the water spilling out of the generator outlet is truly a sight to behold. This is comparable to the waterfalls in quality but at a fraction of the price.

In November 2017 we had the privilege of visiting the Itaipu Dam; what an experience! The technical tour (make sure you have photo ID and are wearing closed shoes and long pants) was amazing; being inside the massive structure made one feel really small. Our guide was very friendly, informative and so willing and capable of answering questions. Right after this tour we boarded a different bus for the panoramic part of the tour; what a huge structure indeed! It’s great to see the amount of trees and plants in the landscaping project. Also wonderful to know that two countries built and are jointly operating the dam. Although we must acknowledge the environmental impact of a giant project like this it’s reassuring to know that so much energy is produced thereby. This is certainly a must-see!!
