It's great to have this Big (walmart) as an option so close to the border with Uruguay. It is not, however, what you would expect from Walmart chain. Some prices are good, but not all like you would expect. Give it a try and find out for yourself!

More expensive than other supermarkets in town, however, offers a wider variety of products, especially fresh produce. Also is the only supermarket to offer organic veggies. Opening hours: 8a.m to 10p.m (together with 'TaTa' in the Uruguayan side, has the longest opening hours, however' BIG' closes on public holidays). Other upsides : a couple of ATMs inside, small jewelry shop, souvenir shop, food plaza and place to develop /print pictures and taxi rank right outside . Downsides check outs are slow (very) but staff is friendly. It's the only shop in town that doesn't take Uruguayan currency. Takes most credit cards though.
