I have had the privilege to meet the owner of the Ferradura Hotel, and spend some time talking to him. His hotel has without a doubt some of the best accommodations in Buzios, but that is not the point. He is an older Gentleman, I am just a few years younger, so we could speak easily. I just spent the New Year's evening in his hotel. It had the best fireworks of Buzios. There was no skimping. The champagne was real. No ersatz. He had impressed upon me his desire to treat his guests as friends. And his team delivered. His clientele was Brazilian, they are the ones who know. And come by helicopter if need be. But foreigners like me are still welcome. If you come to Brazil, there is a lot worse one can do than to stay at the Ferradura hotel. I for one recommend it.

The plugs on the walls are not well distributed in the room. The restaurant is far from the block I stayed, in my block it doesn't have a restaurant. The keys for the doors kept having issues and had to be reconfigured all the time. In all other senses, one of the best places I've ever been.
