Geko Hostel & Pousada Paraty

The Geko team is not at all solicitous, quite the contrary, my friends and I had a totally frustrating experience with the establishment. First of all, as photos on the internet have nothing in reality as a hostel to start with the room, bed linen with an unpleasant smell and much less space than displayed. We decided to disclose, after all, it was a trip planned months ago and we would not be stressed about it. If you imagine that the nightmare was just beginning, since you were forced to leave the return the day after our arrival, because they were prevented (they could not even go to the beach in front of the hostel), much less before the reception (which is much more comfortable than the room). Before taking more than 6 hours on the road, send messages to the hostel attendant asking if everything was right for our arrival and if there is no problem, it will be confirmed if possible. Geko subscribers simply do not wish to make the refund that is our right, since the ONLY 1 DAY 4-day tokens are planned and foreseen. We want a refund of our 3 unapproved steps back, and no, WE DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE CREDIT for next time, as there is no minimum probability of return. I do not recommend this place even to my worst enemy.

Didn’t look so clean to me, had to use a locker in another floor different than the one in my bedroom, beds are covered by a annoying plastic cover which doesn’t look clean and make noise all night so you wake up. Location is outside of the historic center, nice breakfast, staff is helpful.

Excellent brekfast. Brownie 3 types of fruits, bread, coffee and juice. The dinner and breakfast by the sea and under the almond tree is good. Nice staff and clean hostel. Only downside is that you have to pass through a room to enter the last room

This was the worst hostel I stayed in during my 3 months of travel. Apart from the fact that the rooms are dark, old fashioned and the bunks have disgusting mattresses, my expensive Patagonia fleece was stolen from the dorm during my stay. As there was nobody else else in the room apart from us I was sure a staff member took it. The reception staff did not take the issue seriously at all, refusing to check cctv and continuously saying they were checking with the staff until eventually We left without the jumper. A day after we checked out the staff miraculously found the jumper (without explanation of how and where) and offered to send it to our next hostel in Rio. I gave them the full name and address of our hostel and they sent it to the sister hostel of where we were staying which I only luckily Discovered after going there on the off chance that they might have it. Terrible hostel and awful staff. Would not recommend.

Great hostel, fab staff! Breakfast on the beach was amazing. Make sure you buy insect repellent, I was bitten on the beach a few times. The water here is not sparkling clear because of the mangroves nearby, a kayak tour is a must do here !! Paraty is a very special place !
