Che Lagarto Paraty

Everyone was freindly, staff were helpful. You should expect music til late, noise in the early hours of the morning from fellow backpackers. We booked a 6 bedroom dorm which had an additional 4 beds attached and only one bathroom. Locker condition was poor. Internet provided was slow and tempromental. The buffet breakfast was it's savoir.

It’s a good social bar area with a small pool and good affordable restaurant. But my issue is the cleanliness of this place as it’s so bad. The bedrooms smell of piss and toilets/showers are disgusting. The staff are friendly and help with tours etc.

lots of activities/day trips on offer and a great bar area. The breakfast is also good for 15reais but we did have quite a few issues with this hostel. When we checked in, they had put us in sepearate rooms despite booking off one account which may have been a hostel world error but never had the issue before. Then we found out they had overbooked one of the rooms they gave us which was a bit awkward. However our main issue with this hostel was the cleanliness. There were bed bugs so we got eaten alive and lots of people had a similar issue. They did not seem bothered at all about it and just moved us to another room. When asked about it they said ‘it was just the time of year’. Furthermore there was no hand soap in any of the bathrooms and they don’t change the pillow cover or blanket between guests, all you get is a fresh bottom sheet. The bathrooms aren’t particularly clean either.

Very welcoming and the staff spoke good English. We got a private two bed room, our stay included breakfast which was very typical of the area so it featured cake, cereal, scrambled eggs and bread. The hostel can book you on jeep tours of the area or boat excursions. They have a bar and kitchen and a small swimming pool. Would happily stay here again if I ever came back to Paraty
