Bar Lagoa

Welllll... we used to get nice big portions there. So the high prices were okay, since you could easily split one dish for two persons. But last time we came, we received a really small "Filé a oswaldo aranha", with also small side dishes, that I could eat alone and still be hungry afterwards. Although it tasted good, it way doesn't justify the prices. So we wont be back anymore. Ah, they also charge 12% instead of the usual 10% service. Which should be way better...

Like a school canteen. No view of the lake whatsoever and as for service?? Arrived, waited 10 minutes to be seated and no one attended. Sat at a free table and 25 minutes later nobody came to take an order or offer anything. Worst restaurant experience in many years. Eventually gave up and left so I can't remark on the cuisine or drinks. Won't be returning.

A classic restaurant in Rio, opened since the 30’s at least, when it was called the German Bar - has to change its name during the World War II. Serves good steaks. We had the Oswaldo Aranha, it was very good and tasty. The portion was good for two - R$105. The tap beer was R$9. Loved the uniform of the waiters, very classy and the service was very good. Most customers were over 50yo, which also shows how classic this space is. Overall a great experience, but not for the budget traveler.

Pleasant, cold beer, honest food. Worth a visit.

Nice location, good service, wide food choices. Must try the cod cakes.
