Sugar Loaf Trail

Nice walk to the first cable car point, through beautiful wildlife. We were lucky to see marmosets swinging through the trees. And it's free 🤗

Definitely worth it the ride. The view was amazing. Was there right for sunset. Got to the station 4p. Timing was perfect.

Awesome short hike with majestic views all the way to the top. Highly recommend this trail.

Trail head to the absolutely fantastic sugar loaf trail which includes a long section of maybe 2-3 miles of relatively flat and wide trail that wraps around the sugar loaf mountain which is paved and an absolute job to take a nice walk or run on and see the beautiful ocean to the side. There's also lots of animals in the area if you like bird spotting but the favorite and most curious little animal I saw here was the marmoset which was fantastic to see a whole family of them running around the trees and one of them was just sitting on the ledge of the fence bathing in with all the attention from tourists and locals alike. About a mile in is a hidden little turn off which I missed the first time which allows you to hike up the first mountain and skip the cable car. Just be aware of the hours so you're not met with a locked gate when you hike up to the top. The trail as marked on google maps extends quite far but it's a little deceptive because about 2-3 miles in and before the turn marked on maps, the hiking trail becomes a climbing trail which is impossible to pass without specialized gear/ropes.
