The Organic Box

Overall I am quite unhappy with my Organic Box experience. I originally signed up for bi-weekly deliveries and was surprised when my second box showed up 1 week after the first. I double checked my account status, which at the time and still does say Bi-weekly. I sent a message to Organic Box through the Help chat window on the website asking to confirm my deliveries would be Bi-weekly. I did not receive a response. To ensure I did not receive a third box on week 3, I deleted the box in my account during the available editing window. But once again a box was delivered to me last night (third box in 3 weeks). This is very disappointing, especially because it seems I have no control over how much money I'm being charged by this company. The produce has been fine and some "exotic" items have been fun to try. However, I find the organic products do not taste better, there is a lot of plastic packaging and there are often many items from the US or Mexico. This is surprising when I have specifically chosen the Local Box.

If I could give it a negative star, I would. Got a coupon code from a friend to try out some organic fruit and veggie, I placed the order on April 7 and saying the expected shipment would be the April 13th. Saw the pending charges on my card on the order date and everything. The company cancel the whole order without any notices. When I try to reorder the same thing, the promotion was “changed” to a lesser promotion. (May be because they are not making money from the original promo) What a joke! Isn’t there consumer protection on something that was already advertised.

We have ordered twice on two consecutive weeks. And it seems like we will be ordering weekly. There are organic stores in Calgary but the prices are the same or better through the Organic Box. Food quality is excellent. Food arrives well refrigerated and frozen items are well packed and remain frozen. Organic food does taste a lot better. It actually has taste. And its healthy. Very important to eat healthy. And avoid herbicides and pesticides and get the nutrition you need. If not sooner or later your medical expenses may excede any additional cost you incur in eating healthy. And your quality of life will deteriorate dramatically. Ask me. 😩 I have grown to love milk again. Rocky Ridge Jersey grass fed whole milk. A real treat. And filled with immunoglobulins I assume. L’Ancestre cheese can not be beat for taste. On its own delicious. The beef and chicken are very good quality and taste. Including the hamburgers. The hamburgers had a clean taste and little fat. We grilled them. Addictive. And no more cravings for takeout food. The Rocky Mountain Flatbread co pizzas really can not be beaten. Better than any takeout. Very thin crispy crust. The High Vibe chicken broth is very tasty, not too salty and not too rich, a clean taste. We found the chocobroth by High Vibe far too rich for our taste. First time I have been eating collards since I was a child. I may update as we eat different items. I definitely support a family run business that provides a service that is needed and does it well. Particularly organic food. So far very pleased. As an aside I would like to know if one can buy bone marrow to cook in Canada. I grew up eating bone marrow in South Africa. And I know in BC you can buy unpasteurized milk through a collective. Haven’t seen this in Alberta.

Not open at 1 am :( but good food family order often.
