Mackie Lake House Foundation

My mom and I had the such an incredible visit to the Mackie Lake House. It's worth a visit for the views alone (and trust me when I say that my pictures are garbage compared to the real deal), and we were treated with seeing 4 deer, in the snow. It truly was a winter wonderland in that regard. I encourage anyone to do a tour. The story of that house is so captivating, and it is told in several different ways. You see it through the architecture, the objects, the artwork, and the families that called it home. It is a truly beautiful home and it should really be on anyone's list who visits the Okanagan. I've been on two tours with two different staff members, and both times I had such an amazing time, and I kept learning more each visit. I'd also like to give a special shout out to Valerie (our guide for this visit), who was incredibly helpful when our car got stuck on the driveway due to a combination of snow and lack of snow tires.

6 of us booked to do a tour of the Mackie house and were delighted with the experience. Thank you Valerie for showing us such a unique look into the lives of the Mackie's and the architecture of the time. Your stories made the place come alive for us. We were a family of young and old who all enjoyed the tour. It was so fun to talk at dinner about our favorite parts. I do recommend that you phone and make an appointment.

We had both my sister's wedding and my mom's birthday at Mackie. Both events were a huge success as the venue offered a stunning backdrop and plenty of green space for the guests. Logistically, the parking, set-up, and access to washrooms were very easy. The staff were organized, accommodating, and flexible (particularly during COVID-19). I cannot recommend Mackie enough for your next special event!

As the Mackie House is a part of History; COVID-19 will also make its mark in time. We enjoyed our visit today as Valerie made sure the site was sanitized and safe. We were very intrigued with the craftsmanship of the home and all the original pieces of art hung on the walls to enjoy. Valerie was well versed in describing the family history and sharing some of their stories. It was a great afternoon!

Wonderful historic site in the Okanagan. What a spot! And if your so lucky to have high tea....make sure to hold up your pinkies!
