A gem in the crown of the Canadian national park service... wilderness hiking, biking, paddling over many trails & waterways. Wild swimming in lakes and rivers. Nature photography. A dark sky preserve and quiet environment. High quality services & facilities.

You pay a fee to get into the park unless you’re a season pass holder. However it is TOTALLY WORTH IT. Not only are there over fifteen hiking trails and spots to stop and check out the beautiful scenery but you get a lovely map of the entire park, and it’s just worth every penny (which is a small fee not even more expensive than a couple coffees). I did the hemlocks and hardwood trail and checked out mill falls. I didn’t hike mill falls but I stopped at the spot where you can access it directly. The other hike took me 1.5 hours because I was so excited about the scenery I kept doubling back and forth on the boardwalk trail. Very gorgeous and worth it. I just wish I had better planned so I could do more than the two trails. Next time!

Our wilderness camping trip was amazing...great to get away from the busy day to day left and relearn how to be quiet.

Biggest park in the province, this INCREDIBLE place has a bit of something for everyone. The wilderness feel to even the tamer parts of the park, is a TRUE joy, and just knowing that this huge chunk of Nova Scotia is preserved more or less indefinitely, does my heart good. Wonderful for hiking, whether for a few hours or a few weeks in the back country... and it has DELIGHTFUL canoe/kayak routes such as the Frozen Ocean loop, which has conveniently situated huts to shelter in, and well maintained portages. WARNING: do NOT venture out too far into the biggest lake there, in little boats: just like on all large lakes, the weather can change in an instant and you could be capsized by the surprisingly large waves which can develop!! This is NOT a lake for newbies: if you want to go very far from shore, make sure you have survival equipment, wear your lifejacket even if you are a strong swimmer, and watch the weather like a hawk.

Autumn is a most spectacular time in Nova Scotia. The leaves, the temperature, the trails. Keji is perfect for hiking, back-country camping, canoeing, and now for mountain-biking with some pretty sweet trails!
