I am currently at Cariboo Lodge. The place is lovely, the people lovely. The skiing and lessons for intro to powder? Not so great. All of the materials and YouTube videos show big beautiful bowls to learn in. Not true. Most of the skiing is serious chutes and trees, with little real understanding that this is INTRO to powder. So, be careful about your expectations with the skiing. Otherwise, amazing place.

Terrible awful and not worth the huge pricetag! Steer clear! First of all, the skiing. Seond rate, if not third. You'll do better at a ski resort. They do helicopter you to runs, but many are boring and not worth the trip. Others are super-rocky to the point that you have to take your skis off and walk for yards then put them back on. They can take you above the treeline, but then you're stuck in super narrow chutes that are no fun because you have to turn every 7 feet. And get this - there are many many tracks to ski through! You know that moment when powder is chopped up and not enjoyable until it gets broken up some more? That's what all the runs will be like at their best. Freshies? Just like a resort, only if it snows while you're there. Oh, and by the way, the 'copter will be grounded for two days when that happens. We had to head home on the bus while beautiful snow was falling, and never got even one good day in. Second, the lodge. This is not a "luxury lodge" as their website boasts. The food is about as good as your local Denny's, they don't know how to make drinks, the wine selection is garbage and they want $50 for a bottle of Sutter Home swill, they will run out of things (in our case ketchup!), the furnishings are decades old, there's a musty smell about the place, and the internet service is so slow you can't download photos (forget about streaming!) Third, the helicopters. These are tired old birds, not comfortable, they stink of hundreds of skiers and fuel, they're so loud your ears will be ringing even with protection, and it's a wonder they don't crash once a season or more. All in all, your money will be much better spent at Whistler and staying in a suite at the Four Seasons. For half the price! Avoid this excrement show.
