Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park - Alberta

We came to the park today to get our Christmas tree. We got our permit at the visitor's center and drove up to to find a tree. It was certainly fine holiday fun. Afterwards we went down to the lake to walk and play on the ice.

Very nice park. Tons of hiking and biking trails. From strolls to rapid assents. You can paddle board, kayak, ski, fish the lake. Not too shabby. Campsites are nice and most are treed. Full service sites are exposed to your neighbours and the sun. Stock up on supplies and bring your own firewood or a fat wallet. We visited September 12 to 16. I'd give the park 7.5 out of 10.

We absolutely love that Elkwater is so close for us to spend an afternoon at the beach or on a hike! We are just starting to go on longer family hikes and discovered the Spruce Coulee trails. Such a beautiful lake and a great place to explore!

This place is paradise in the prairies! The beach is fun but rocky so bring water shoes.

Wow, what an amazing trip. Took 4-hours to get there and camped there. Will go back again.
