The Coffee Project at The Root Cellar

So, I love the root cellar. I have been shopping there for produce for about 10 years. Good people. My beef isn't with them. The coffee shop is another matter. Spending 5 or 10 bucks on a coffee and a sausage roll is a great way accompaniment to your shopping, however, I have REPEATEDLY asked the coffee shop to carry some (non-stevia) sweetener, but they refuse. I have told many many staff (both in the coffee shop and at the till in the grocery) about this, and even came on a Saturday to ask the coffee shop manager why this simple thing can't be done. I was told he would be in, but nope. So, what's up Coffee Project? When I pay a premium for coffee, why can't I get this simple thing taken care of? So lame.

Good fresh local food. Vegan options include a beyond meat burger. Great staff

Big rave for their gingerbread late which is made with real molasses, spices, vanilla etc and their pumpkin spice late with real organic pumpkin puree and spice etc. No chemicals. All natural. Super tasty!

Coffee is fantastic, and the rootcellar is great. I am a big fan. However, selling day old pastry at full price and not telling customers they are day old is very poor customer service. At first I thought I just got them on an off day - but, after 3 dissapointments I asked what was up and staff explained that they rotate their 'fresh' pastries every two days! I am sorry, but $4+ for a day-old croissant is awful. It was laughable to be told that warming up my day-old crossant makes it 'fresher'. The day-olds are chewy, stale, andanot worth $4+. Come on folks! I have been a loyal customer since you opened - you can do so much better! If I was the company providing Rootcellar my croissants and seeing them sold day old at full price I would be concerned. Turns out my neighbor thinks that company sucks because of their own experience at Rootcellar passing off day old pastry as 'fresh'.
