Tsujiri Richmond

Authentic and delicious, but quite pricey and took a long time to get my order. Nevertheless the taste is five star and a real treat. If you’re looking for authentic, it is worth the drive and money for the immersive culinary and cultural experience of Japanese green tea and desserts.

We got the parfait with the matcha ice cream, mochi balls, red beans and jelly on the bottom. Compared to the parfait at Matcha Cafe Maiko, tsujiri's parfait has slightly more bitter (matcha flavor) ice cream, no cereal as filler, and jelly that is a tad sweet. Maiko's ice cream is less bitter which suits my taste better. But Maiko's filler cereal and the completely bland jelly was what killed the experience there. I'd recommend both places. Tsujiri's wooden decor is on the more classy side, which really wowed me and my friends.

Favorite matcha in town

I love this place! Green tea ice cream has a strong tea flavour but isn’t too sweet. All parfaits have some cereal, red bean, green tea soft serve, a sweet potato and jelly at the bottom. Flavours mixed well and balanced each other, giving it a good texture and wasn’t overly sweet. Only thing about this place is that it’s expensive - $9.5 for a parfait! Come here if you want a special treat and don’t mind paying the price for it. I’m sure there are cheaper places you can go to though.

Love the fact that I can find a Hojicha Latte in Richmond and have visited several times just for this. Quality is high end but so are the prices and the menu items are fantastic but for cakes or mochi items I suggest going right when they open or they could sell out. Options for high tea are great and the eel ochazuke was delicious.
