Alert Bay School

My kids went to this school for 2 years. They made some immediate long term friends which helped with their two year stay. The principal (Turner) is amazing and did some great things with our youngest child. The grade 6/7 teacher (Harris) had a huge heart and genuinely cares about her class. I don’t really have anything positive to say about the grade 4/5 teacher. So I’ll take my mother’s advice and chose to say nothing. The primary teacher was well like by others but my kids were not taught by her, so again, no comment. By biggest beef with the school comes with the amount of racism which Emanates throughout the students. It’s sad because we all know that’s a learned trait. Some of this is equally prevalent amongst a select few faculty. I’m dropping names but he should not go to camp anymore. “Wink” My kids never had a speck of homework and what they did learn makes me scared that they’re not going to be prepared for there next school. This education facility is very heavy into their culture, which is amazing, but when my child can tell me more about the negative effects of fish farms than their times tables, it concerns me. If you have older kids, I’d be concerned about their development attending this school.
