I was a witness to an accident recently involving a side-by-side that tipped and I made the 911 call. It was an evening out for husband and wife who had a babysitter for their 3 young children and no alcohol in the driver's system. His wife was badly hurt and was rushed out by ambulance. What happened after astonished me and the lack of care or respect for the situation by the Saint John police officers on scene. The driver was treated and spoken to very poorly by several officers on the scene from start to finish...to the point that I tried to intervene to protect the man from police who was devastated by his wife being hurt and taken away. He was treated like a criminal and agitated several times by different officers except for the wonderful female officer who tried to talk calmly to him and explained what the processes were. My husband came and was treated so badly he had to speak to officers to change their tone. He was told to go home and eat his supper like a child then he told the officers they had me in a cop car giving a written statement.
All of us cooperated and did our best to stay out of the way of the health professionals. At several times the police were standing around laughing and cracking jokes while they stood surrounded by the wife's blood and the sobbing husband standing to the side and we stood there and watched them laugh. I am embarrassed by their actions and would not recommend calling Saint John police and avoid them at all cost if possible.
The paramedics and fire fighters were professional and fantastic and thank you for everything you did.

I was in an accident early last year in Saint John and the police were more understanding than I expected... I took seat in their vehicle to get out of the rain I had a chat with them and found they just seemed like people who want to actually do good and not just drive a fast car with a badge. I was even going to write a letter to thank the officers but sadly I lost their names.
Never heard any complaints when I was there for about a year and a half unlike in Charlottetown where everybody complains about the police every day. The difference could just be down to "regional culture" but I think the police in Saint John are doing something right. I had spoken to another pair of officers another time and again found them to just be decent people with a sense of humor and a job and not these intense adrenaline junkies that breathe down everyone's necks and drive like maniacs for no reason. I thought there must be a catch but they handled my case competently too so I'd be lying if I gave less than 5 stars.
Called in to talk to an officer about charging someone, the officers are lovely and very kind for the most part. As a matter of fact, the one dealing with my case is amazing. Altho I was taken a bit back today by the lady who answered the phone, I called and had asked her to speak to the officer dealing with my file, to which she told me he wasn’t in that day. When I asked her if she could leave him a message she had repeated herself, very loudly and with an attitude. She basically replied as if I had asked her the same question twice.
I swear she did not want to do her job, it was piercing to my ear as I suffer from autism, so I hung up on the spot and panicked. I think the problem should be dealt with, because I see I am not the only one who was greeted poorly by this lady.
Lady at front desk really does not seem to want to do their job. Like they don't want to be there and it's our fault. They would explain something to me as If I could hear them at the printer and acted insulted when I asked them to repeat themselves.
The women working a front desk was rude and difficult to deal with.
