If I could award a zero I would. I have never written an online review before nor am I the type who causes trouble or complains. However, what I went through today with Roys was my breaking point. My bf ordered flowers for me for my birthday from a website that directed his order to Roys flower shop. I was called days in advance by Roys to be asked if they can send me them on a different day and I told them yes but that it is usually customary to comfirm with the sending party because this was likely supposed to be a surprise. She said that i was right but claimed to have contacted him so I said “okay no problem”. After talking with my boyfriend, she did not contact him as he didnt recieve any phone calls or emails and we checked that his info was all correct on their part. He was upset as this was supposed to be a surprise for me for my birthday and so was I. I called again to ask when she had contacted him as we hadn’t received anything and she told me that she was very sorry and that I was right, that a lot of floral arrangements are meant to be surprises and I’d just have to “act surprised”. Which I thought was an unprofessional thing to say especially after calling the recipient and producing sender info which was unprofessional to begin with. Long story short my order ended up getting cancelled. After hours on the phone between companies (the site the order was placed on, the middle man and Roys) I found out I would not be receiving a refund. I called Roys back I asked for an arrangement to please be delivered to me because I was extremely frusterated at all of this and if I was going to be out the money regardless and not be given a refund and had to deal with all of these phone calls on top of it I thought I should at least receive the arrangement. That is when she went off on me telling me that “shes spent most of her morning on this” that “you cant get flowers from superstore and expect sobeys to send them” again very confusing so I asked again for her to confirm that she was the one who called me and was going to send them to me, and she said was. She then said “you should tell your boyfriend not to order from places he doesnt know then” (the webiste). To me as the customer, Roys was the company who called me who was supposed to make the arrangement and send the flowers the other company only collected the payment. Yet there was a lot of differing of fault. Roys was the one who handled it unprofessionally from the start and spoiled the surprise to begin with and ordered the cancellation without being able to tell me when or if id receive a refund and caused all of this so that is who I held responsible. At the end of the day my bf’s $80 is gone with no flowers to show for it. She constantly told me that shes not the one who gets the money she just sends the flowers (which I’m still confused about because why couldn’t she just send me my flowers then if we paid for them and would not be getting a refund). I hope to never have to deal with of these companies again and will not go with Roys ever because of the unprofessionalism and the comments they made. Regardless if they were just the person who got the order, the way it was handled and the things that were said on their part were rude. It’s unfortunate because this was supposed to be a sweet gesture that turned into a mess. I have a lot of respect for small businesses/owners but not ones who won’t take responsibility for their actions and who say things like that especially to a customer that was wronged. The cost of fixing this issue and sending me the bouquet would have probably been menial compared to the business they just lost. Especially when whoever out there still has our money. Disappointed to say the least.

Delivery guy does not know where to go. He had to call my wife to find her. Surprise ruined and my wife have to pick up the flowers from the delivery guy outside the building.

Received a bonsai a few months back. It was a larger bonsai, so it should have been somewhat established. It was given to me as a gift. When I opened the bag they packed it in, it smelled of mould. I followed the directions in watering Saturday’s and Tuesday’s. There were little flies on it as well. Fast forward a few months, the bonsai begins to dry out. I’ve been following the directions provided by this shop. I called the shop to ask questions, as everything I read online (and in a book I had purchased about maintaining healthy bonsai) I had tried (including removing the glued in decorative pebbles), to which I found bugs underneath. When I called and tried to speak to the woman who answered, she didn’t let me finish my sentence, she cut me off and started speaking loudly stating I wasn’t watering it. When she finished, I said that before she had cut me off, I was trying to tell her that I had been following the watering instructions provided by her shop. She dismissively shrugged me off and said if I “really wanted to, I could bring it in and speak with the Japanese guy. Cos he’s the one who handles them.” Which I found totally rude, and completely unnecessary. It had totally died on me, and when I tried to take the tree out, I found insect eggs in the roots. This whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I’ll never shop there, nor send anyone there. The woman on the phone was super rude. And now I’ve lost a plant that was a super thoughtful gift from someone. I had also received another plant from them, months before, that also had bugs in it. I managed to save half the plant, and rid it of the flies that were consuming it. My house is covered in all kinds of plants, and have managed to maintain them all for years, with no issue. And all of a sudden, the two plants I get from this shop barely last a few months. Absolutely disappointing.
