Earls Kitchen + Bar

We had dinner here on a Saturday night, right at rush hour and it was fairly busy. Leah was our server, and I can’t say enough how great she did! She was very quick, friendly and thoughtful. Food was hot and delicious ! Great Job Leah

Celebrated my birthday at Earls recently with family. The waitress who helped us, can’t remember her name but she was wearing a black leather mini skirt. She was excellent at her job and very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. I had the blackened Cajun salmon and substituted the jasmine rice for the heavenly mashed potatoes. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the asparagus was perfect. They offered a free piece of ice cream cake after dinner. Apparently the waitress overheard someone wish me a happy birthday. It was a nice surprise. I did not enjoy the ice cream, not because it was bad it just tasted like coffee which I hate. The restaurant was beautiful and well spaced out for our protection during this COVID-19 world. The bathroom was nice but with the 2 person capacity sign on the outside of the bathroom it was hard to tell how many people were actually in the washroom unless you went in. It was the only awkward part having to walk in and try and open the stall only to find out two people were all ready in the bathroom. Other than that, I had an excellent birthday dinner and I can’t wait to go back and eat the best salmon I have had in a long time.

I've visited on many occasions and lately it has not been such a positive experience. The place looks okay and there's nothing wrong with the food, but the experience I increasingly come away with is that of chilly entitled servers operating within an empty shell of hospitality. It usually begins with a lot of unnecessary waiting at the front of a basically empty restaurant as you're pointedly ignored for the first 15 to 20 minutes. The staff seem to be hoping you'll just give up and slink away or something. Then you're finally seated and you can forget about all the small courtesies that demonstrate you're being well cared for at other restaurants, like bringing the happy hour menu with the specials or checking on whether your glass needs a refill. Forget about that. To be fair they are pretty consistent with checking on how everything is going while your mouth is full of food, but beyond that there's nothing more than a cold, perfunctory, reptilian, robotic sort of alertness. For me this sort of thing spoils the pleasure in an evening out, because what's the point in having another human being take care of your evening if the interaction routinely slips from congenial to calculating? There is zero emotional labour going on here. They do suddenly get very warm and friendly in the five seconds prior to your finger hovering over the tip button... but in the end you can get a less demeaning service experience from a Wendy's drive through.

Had new item on menu Lobster Shrimp Ravioli. A little more seafood would have been nice. Great flavour!

Lauren was fantastic! She made us feel so welcome, and her energy was on point. Such a sweetheart, we will definitely be back.
