Coquitlam Your Independent Grocer

It's an OK store. Clean, but looks a bit rough, as it's in an older location. I like the variety of produce and other items, especially since it's a smaller store. The drawbacks are the confusing entering and exiting of the store. During normal operations, at either end you can enter, but the enter door is on the left, and exit is on the right. During Covid now, one end is the entrance and the other end is the exit. Be VERY CAREFUL in front of the store in the parking lot. They resurfaced the old speed bumps, but their too high and thick, you can really scrap the bottom of your smaller cars.

The til people are very kind and bubbly. I was in there to buy some bubly coincidentally. Nevertheless great service and very sanitary

I shop here quite often... The prices aren't really cheaper... But I love the staff. Every time I go in the store the cashiers I get are always very friendly and polite. I've gotten to know a few of them over the years I've shopped at this location and they are always such a pleasure to see and I love having a quick chat with them as they check my groceries through. I've also had to take items back a couple of times and they handled that in such a polite and friendly way as well. I can say I have never had one bad customer service experience at this store.

The inside staff were OK. However this business of putting a dollar in a cart is wrong. When I went to put my cart in the place to drop them off outside my cart was different to the ones that were outside and as such I could not get my dollar back nor could I disengage the cart from the others it was stuck. The young man I asked for help would not give me my dollar and told me simply that the cart was stuck and there was nothing he could do. He was the greeter at the front door. So apart from paying for my groceries I had to pay for a dollar which was not refunded for the use of the cart! UNACCEPTABLE

Independent is clean, has plenty of parking and the staff are really helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The prices are extremely attractive too. A lufa that costs 5 dollars over at the Body Shop only costs 2 dollars at this store! There are not huge lineups and the store hours are reasonable too. You can get the same items here as you can in Superstore without the huge crowds! I had never been here before but I certainly will return now that I have been here.
