Spelt's Coffee Shop

Normally I love Spelt's! I go there on a regular basis and love their food and service. However today, to my dismay I went to get my usual hot dog, doughnut and a hot chocolate and found out the hot dog was full of cheese! It was absolutely disgusting! Had to throw it out. I'm just glad I don't have an allergy or intolerance to cheese! I was not even aware that Spelt's had cheese dogs at all (unless they just bought the wrong kind of hot dog or something which I can forgive). The hot chocolate was also the wrong size (8oz instead of 12 like I wanted) however that was likely due to a miscommunication so I'll let it slide... Though I found it sad that they didn't ask if I wanted whip cream on it or not. At least there was nothing wrong with the doughnut!

The doughnuts are so delicious! It’s a problem. The coffee is just the regular, weak coffee found everywhere else. But who cares about coffee when they have great doughnuts?

Get doughnuts.... Lots of doughnuts. The only problem is it will run you for any other kinds.

Changed ownership, got rid of all the great staff and now the coffee is mediocre and atmosphere is not the same. You can't just slide your kids in to be baristas with no customer service skills, care, or pride in the job. Coffee lid/sugar/cream area always messy and often out of raw sugar now. Hopefully these are just growing pains but in three recent visits there was no improvement. Not going back for now. EDIT to note, the below, previous 5 star review was for the original ownership: Friendly staff, consistently good coffee, delicious apple fritters that are cheap and HUGE! Serve Silk Road tea as well, so unexpectedly awesome for a gas station.
