Monte Verde Wildlife Costa Rica (01/15/2020)

Today I decided to step out on a very windy, misty and chilly day in Santa Elena. I spotted a beautiful double rainbow and followed it. It led me to this small, charming, diner. It is managed by a very friendly local family that serves extremely delicious and cheap meals. I love the fresh natural drinks that are served abundantly by a cute little girl who knows what she is doing. Their garage and part of their home is the diner with some of the best traditional Costa Rican meals in the entire town. They are open from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. There are several fancy restaurants in the small town of Santa Elena, 5 minutes away from this diner, but this place is by far better than so many others and way cheaper. Delicious, clean, friendly and right for my budget. Do leave a tip, they deserve it and earn it every time.

100 % recommendation! :)) Delicious authentic local food, very fair prices for a touristy place and all made by a family of incredibly heart-warming people. I can definitely recommend the "Batido de Caz en agua". It's a local fruit most people won't have ever tried and super delicious (and they serve plenty) We had great conversations with the family who was very patient with the lack of spanish fluency in our family and we felt really happy every time we left the restaurant. I guess if you look for a solid local restaurant with a warm familiar atmosphere, you have to look no further :)

Visiting the Cuchara del Sabor is an amazing experience. You can eat great tipical food, have nice conversations if you wish and experience costa rican hospitality. It's a small family run restaurant with tipical and very tasty food for fair prices. The family is very hospitable and we had many interesting conversations with them. We were even invited to a small trip to one of the big local hueco trees, which was an experience we could not have had without them. We could feel how they do all this from the goodness of their heart and experiencing that is something I wish to everyone!
