The bus from Puerto Viejo to Cahuita was delayed 1 hour

As many people have mentioned the ticket office deliberately gives incorrect change to tourists. I caught a few buses up and down the coast from here and every time I had to fight over the missing 100-200 colonies.

The man at the boleteria gave me incorrect change, I had to get the bus so didn't realise until I'd left. Check your change! Also bus is average quality, baby spiders and cockroaches but not terrible

There's not really much to a bus stop, except a place where busses... you know... stop, so passengers can hop on and off. This particular Autotransportes Mepe Bus station is located in the beautiful oceanside town of Puerto Viejo. I took the 4.5 hour journey from San Jose Costa Rica in order to stay at the #lazyloft that happens to be within a few blocks walking distance from the station. The price is less than $4 USD ( 5785 Colones) and comfortably transports passengers to and from several cities every 2hrs, but check the schedule since the last trip is usually at 4p in either direction. Along the way, we stopped in Limón to use the bathroom (for 150 colones 😂) and grabbed snacks at the busy rest stop. I actually enjoyed my food... until I realized it gets better in town. No wifi on the bus or at the station but the station accepts US Dollars (small exchange fee) and provides change in Colones. I was able to make one of the coolest friends ever on the assigned seating route to Puerto Viejo; the trip back was almost empty, so we stretched out to enjoy the efforless ride.

Good bus station, well run, professional drivers. Rates are very good, highly recommended.
