Beloved by the local townsfolk as a symbol of hope & good... Though I can never stop thinking about how it was built atop an indigenous cemetery. This is very representative of how native indigenous history & archaeology has never been preserved or valued in the area, other than to be used as garden ornaments or sold to the highest (often foreign) bidder.

Catholic temple of Santa María de Dota. Classic infrastructure from the 19th century built in 1966. The name of the parish honors its patron saint, the Virgin of the Holy Cave. In the same block we can find a small grotto of the Holy Cave, also including the priest's house, the monument to Christ the King, the Lourdes grotto, railings and sidewalks. In addition, the parish hall and catechetical rooms. The temple and its marble altar were consecrated by Monsignor Quesada Castro on November 21, 1966.

I love my parish, because it is like my mother, it teaches me, it guides me, it helps me to live the true life, which is lived in Christ Jesus.
