It used to be a very beautiful church, though it did not receive any maintenance whatsoever for a long time, and thus it looked barren and abandoned... until it caught fire by an short-circuit and it is now no more. If anything, it was this failure to provide maintenance which caused the demise of Copey town's main tourist spot.

This place was destroyed in its entirety by a fire that occurred at dawn on August 6, 2017. This catholic church consecrated to San Rafael Arcángel had been constructed in the year 1928 and was National Architectural Patrimony, thus declared in December of 1999. There is not yet a concrete project for its reconstruction.

Destroyed by fire and not yet started with new construction, hopefully soon as a community without a temple is like a shopping center without Foodcourt, soul food should not be left out.

Regrettable to know that yesterday this Church burned down now only the remains remain, date of the visit August 6, 2017, at 12 noon
