Bad service with covid19. Interesting tours

The driver was right one time, the tour was well planned and scheduled. Got to see the beautiful volcano and had plenty of time at the hot springs to relax. Highly recommend this tour!

We did the Torteguero Eco Adventura ( 1 day tour ). Bought tickets through Costa Rican trails, but the actual tour was done by another company as they did not do the one day tour. The email responses for any questions on the tour when we were looking to book this tour were quick. On the day of the tour , we got picked up around 6 05 AM, exactly at the time they said they would pick up. We picked up a few other people and then started the tour. The guide was very knowledgeable on the flora and fauna in the area and explained throughout the trip both in English and spanish. We took this tour on december 2019 and we were stranded on the road for extra 1 and half hour than usual as there was construction going on. Our first stop was for breakfast and it was decent. They did not ask if I wanted more , and felt the portion sizes were too small. Breakfast is a large meal for me and I felt hungry after it. Our next stop was a banana plantation. We did not actually go inside the plantation, we just stopped on the side of the road for 10 mins and the tour guide explained stuff about the bananas. We were lucky to see sloths in that area up close. They were like 5 feet from us . That was cool. After that we then head to the embarkation dock. If you would like to use the bathroom at the embarkation dock, you had to pay $1 or 500 colones. The boat ride was nice . We saw various wildlife like iguanas ( lots ), small crocodile , birds. After boat ride , we then stopped at torteguero village were we took a small walk in the village and on the beach. Since it was not season, we did not see and sea turtles. We did see baby sea turtle shells on the beach during the walk. Had some coconut water on the beach. Keep some cash with you if you would like to have coconut water / sodas. We then headed to monkey restaurant for lunch. The lunch was decent but nothing great. For vegetarians there was grilled vegetables , rice , salad, coffee/ tea. For meat eaters , there was chicken and beef. For the price I paid for the tour ($110) expected more options. After lunch we started journey back. During our journey back we saw spider monkeys and capuchin monkeys, which was nice. They were hanging on the trees and we stopped for 15 mins to view them. We were lucky to get a view of them. During our way back we stopped at the same restaurant we had breakfast. We had to pay for our own coffee, which I think the tour could have paid for . At the end of the day, the tour was nice , guides were knowledgeable , service was decent but felt for the money paid they could have made it better with more food options for breakfast, lunch and snack during return . It was our last day in costa rica, and this was a nice end - some walking and lot of sitting in the tour . I personally would take this tour during baby sea turtle hatching time ( july or so ), probably not in Decemeber again.

Excellent travel agency! It was my first time going to Costa Rica and I needed some help to plan the trip. I found Costa Rican Trails online and decided to contact them after reading reviews from other travellers. I was a little concerned at first to use the company by reading online reviews only. However, my travel agent Kristina was very patient, answered my numerous questions and suggested several tours and hotels. We stayed for 9 days and went from San Jose to Tortuguero-Arenal-Manuel Antonio and back to San Jose. The agency arranged transportation, hotels and some of the tours for us. They picked us from the airport which was very convenient and, to my astonishment, everything worked like a clock - no delays, no complaints. I was extremely satisfied with them and big thanks to Kristina for her work!
