This is a beautiful tree farm they are moving into cocoa and making chocolate. There are several lodges to rent. It is closed at present due to covid. Great trails and horse back riding.

Truly a tropical paradise! This is a family owned and run eco-lodge, with a central open building where excellent food is served (and I am a picky eater) and people can gather before excursions. Tiskita is high enough above the shore that there is a breeze and no mosquitos. They make their own delicious chocolate bars from trees grown right there: farm to bar! This is one of my favorite places in the world. If you want a Marriott, do NOT come here. If you want to feel a part of the jungle, do. You can get here by road-- a 10-hour drive from San José-- or you can fly in to their tiny grass runway (kept cropped by the horses there) on a small plane. Magical!

Didn't stay in the lodge but booked a guided jungle walk with Mario. We parked at the beautiful lodge and began the 2 hour walk through their private reserve. Saw 2 sloths, tucans, squirrel and howler monkeys, morphos, coati, ants, fruit trees etc. Mario was very informative professional and proud of the country. The walk was easy as we brought our two kids (4 and 6). Had some complementary coffee and drinks in the restaurant area of the lodge after the walk. Happy we found this place !

We took a jungle tour there with Mario. He was very knowledgeable and had a cunning instinct to find animals we would have missed and knew tons about the flora and fauna of all things Costa Rica. Trails are well maintained and lots of bridges and waterfalls.

I had the pleasure of teaching yoga and giving massage there for a month, mostly to the lovely owner, Lisbeth. She was so great to work for, and has so much warmth, hospitality, and passion. Her husband, Peter always had the most interesting stories about how Tiskita became what it is today. They both were extremely helpful in making sure I got there and back to the airport safely. I will forever remember them and my time there, and am eternally grateful to them for the opportunity.
