DO NOT STOP AT THIS SHOP!!!!!!! We made the awful mistake of stopping here on what had been a dream trip for us and we were robbed of everything we had! We were the ONLY customers at the establishment at the time and we were completely set up.... we PAID money to look at the “wood museum” and as one of the boys stood at the front entrance and watched us in the museum. I went to get something out of my locked car to discover all four of our backpacks had been stolen. In less than five minutes they got our passports all of our cash all of our electronics etc. we were leaving from one destination to the next or we never would’ve had anything in our car as we know better. We have been told by Locals that it used to be some sort of auto mechanic shop. Now instead of working on cars they steal things from Cars Just keep going ... the carvings aren’t even that good and better to not get robbed by the business your already giving your money too! And I’m adding an edit to clarify the lie that the owner just responded with... we did NOT ever leave this establishment nor did we leave our windows down. Not at all !!! We luckily walked into the establishment with our phones and wallets so we had our us licenses. They did leave a few pieces of luggage but took 4 backpacks that obtained our iPads, passports, cash, and many personal items in a matter of minutes. You are flat out lying and when we had to drive 8 hours round trip to the US embassy we were told to pin your property and photography your establishment so authorities could further investigate. Luckily we got all that and even better.. we are well connected state side . At this point it’s not a matter of getting our property back it’s .. we knew it was gone the second we left your property to go file a police report...now it’s a matter of justice and to ensure no one else is ripped off by your establishment. We come to Costa Rica because we have fallen in love with the people. We save every penny we can in our daily lives at home to come back to Costa Rica as soon as possible and spend our money locally. It was our mistake to walk away from our car at this establishment.... we know better than to travel with things in our car and the only reason we had anything in our car is because we were leaving one lodging location and traveling to the next. In retrospect next time One of us will sit in the car. Until then... we will keep pursuing the matter. People need to beware if your business!!!

The local woods are beautiful in Costa Rica. So naturally its tough to imagine not coming out with attractive furniture when using it. However the craftsmanship is not great, prices are way too high. Not really sure about the “museum.”! They tried to charge me to go in and I thought that was odd and deined. Seems like they should want to show off the sculptures... not hide them in another room?

Everything I owned was stolen out of my car while I was vacationing in Costa Rica from this spot. The biggest regret I have is that I stopped at this business. The police arrived and I filled a police report but nothing was recovered. If you must stop please have someone stay in the car. If not you will regret it!

We stopped by last FEBURARY and spoke with Elizabeth. She was very patient with us as there is a lot to learn about Costa Rican wood. We will be seeing them again this month to arrange for a purchase

Spare yourself the trouble and avoid this establishment. Nothing good can come of it.
