Winter landscape of gravel lakes in Moravská Nová Ves The water areas of the former gravel pit are called the local Neoveské pits. The lake with an area of about 120 hectares remained here after the extraction of gravel and its shores are now planted with various species of trees, so they fit naturally into the landscape and are directly connected to the adjacent floodplain forest. On the surface of the lake, tourists can see mallards, stag beetles, gray herons and swans. The kingfisher reappears on the neighboring river Kyjovce. The European beaver has also been living on the banks of the Neovesky pits for several years. The lakes are a paradise for fishermen due to the rich fishing and during the hot summer days they are tempting for a romantic swim. However, at your own risk, as the water area is a protected drinking water reservoir for the Hodonín region. 😂
