The South Bohemian Basins are a geographical name of a natural area of the type of a deep depression of tectonic origin, surrounded by terrain of higher altitude. From the point of view of the regional distribution of the geo-relief of the Czech Republic delimited by the boundaries of the geomorphological sub-system of approximately 1965 km² in the south-western part of the Czech-Moravian geomorphological system, it is part of the geomorphological province of the Czech Highlands. Within the administrative area, they are situated in the South Bohemian Region and have two geomorphological units, the České Budějovice Basin in the northwest, the České Budějovice Regional Town in the northwest, and the Třeboň Basin in the east, and the town of Třeboň in the central part. Typical for the landscape of the South Bohemian Basins with an average altitude of about 450 m are ponds and pond systems, while their construction was used natural conditions not deep depressions. The depressions with sediments are reminiscent of the "shallow" depth of the shape of the basin, hence the general designation of typical geomorphological formations in nature. The Českobudějovická and Třeboň Basin is separated roughly by a connecting line (from the north, without territorial projections): Hluboká nad Vltavou (Vltava River, southern edge of the Hněvkovice Water Reservoir) on the border with Středočeská pahorkatina, Úsilné village, České Budějovice eastern edge, Plav Vltava, the village of Lipí, where it meets the Bohemian Forest. The České Budějovice Basin is relatively narrow and stretched from České Budějovice to the northwest, to the Otava River (Strakonice, Písek), the Třeboň Basin resembles an oval, the center of the Třeboň Basin in the middle, Soběslav in the north and České Velenice in the west České Budějovice and Stráž nad Nežárkou. East of České Budějovice is the highest part of the natural area, rugged upland called Lišovský práh, is a geomorphological subset of the Třeboň Basin. The geomorphological formation with the general designation of the threshold separates two developmentally connected depressions, here the Lišovský Threshold in the east Lomnická Basin, the geomorphological subset of the Třeboň Basin and in the west the Blata Basin, the geomorphological subset of the České Budějovice Basin. The Lišovský Threshold reaches the highest altitudes of the South Bohemian Basins. The highest peak is Baba (583 m) with a peak on the cadastral area. Jivno. Not far from k.ú. Lišov historical altitude point with Latin name Locus perennis (Czech: Eternal Place), an important technical monument mapping the territory in the time of Austria-Hungary. The natural area of the South Bohemian Basins has an irregular shape with many narrow projections, orientation delimitation on the perimeter: in the north a narrow depression along the Otava river from Strakonice to the west (Katowice and Novosedly) and east to Písek, from Protivín, Hluboká nad Vltavou, Ševětín , Komárov, south Soběslav, Kardašova Řečice, Stráž nad Nežárkou, Chlum near Třeboň, České Velenice (southernmost point), Trhové Sviny (eastern edge), Hluboká near Borovany, Ledenice, Lipí, Němčice, Vodňany and again Strakonice. For hiking and cycling quite undemanding terrain, as well as other outdoor sports excellent, picturesque region with ponds and the background of the Bohemian Forest, cultural monuments, towns České Budějovice, Trebon and other villages with folk South Bohemian architecture great destination for photo-documentary, etc. CZ200224
