The hotel provides the guests with free access to spa (jacuzzi, swimming pool, etc.) as well with bathrobes and slippers you can use. Strongly recommending to pack in your bags swimming slippers should you plan a visit to the spa. Breakfast offer is great as it ranges from cereals, freshly made omelettes on spot, cold cuts, fruit, veggies, etc. Free parking is a plus as well. The attic rooms are a bit tricky for tall people. On the downside, there is no safe box within the room, however we felt safe all the time while we stayed there. Our favorite part remains the spa area. Thank you, Hotel Stekl.

Awesome hotel, perfect place to visit with family and friends. The restaurant is good, the staff speak English as well as other languages. And it is only 10 minutes from the city center by cab.

Book some other wellness hotel in the town center instead, hotel Diamant or Pod Hradem both looked fine. Hotel Štekl is not a good value for money and we disliked more things about the hotel than we liked. We stayed in a classic double room located on the ground floor for 3 nights. The room looked nice but it lacked some basic maintenance and there was no kettle/coffee maker which we consider to be a standard at 4 star hotels. WiFi connection was extremely poor in the room and often disappeared completely. So, we had to use our own mobile data instead. This is unacceptable at a 4 star hotel. WiFi connection is essential and should be working. The gym definitely needs some maintenance. There were rusty dumbbells and even broken squeaky machines. There was no water fountain in the gym. We liked the hotel’s interior design and decoration but again we quickly noticed areas in need of cleaning and maintenance. The spa center is nice but rather small. We had free access, just like other guests, so it got quickly full at times. It only feels relaxing when there’re few guests using the spa facilities. We used a steam room every day and every day the light in it did not work. Temperature in the small swimming pool was different every day; sometimes way too cold for us to use it. There were stains on the ceiling in the spa center which might have been mould. Another major problem was noise inside the hotel. We could very easily hear other guests walking around and even talking in their rooms. The screaming of small kids was super annoying. Guests are allowed to bring their pets to the hotel. One night, we could hear frequent barking of a dog. Again, that was extremely annoying. There was a TV in our room but no channels in English were available and the remote control often malfunctioned. Why doesn’t the management simply order Netflix or another streaming service??? Overall, this hotel is not worth your time and money.

This hotel is located in a beautiful setting and we appreciated the beautiful view and the close vicinity to the castle and it's garden and park. The antique furniture in our room went well with the classical architecture of the building, which provided an authentic experience for our stay in South Bohemia. The staff was friendly and ready to assist us when we had a problem with the heating which, by the way, was quite powerful and raised the temperature rapidly. The room was kept clean during our stay. It's worth pointing out that the rooms are not equipped with air conditioning which can be a problem for during the summer months. Another shortcomings were the absence of English or German channels on the TV which was surprising due to the presence of foreign guests. The bedside power plugs were placed below the night stand and could be reached with difficulty. I had to lie down on the floor to be able to reach them. The night lamps in our room did not provide a cosy light, a simple lamp with a shade would do the job. The bath tub is placed quite high and one needs to exercise caution when getting in. To be frank, we were not very impressed with the wellness area. A sauna is only accessible for a fee. The light in the steam bath didn't work and a shower is located at the toilet.
