City Theater (City Theater) Just a few steps from the nearby square, a new cinema building is located on a picturesque hill. The beginnings of film performances in Kamenický Šenov go back to 1896/97, in which the Master of Glass Painter, Mr. Hermann Pietsch, presented his first performance in the hall of Langer Pub and in Sokolovna. In the following years, after World War I (1914-1918), traveling biographies (Fried, etc.) brought their planned films almost every year, and presented them at the “Merkantile” Hotel and Sokolovna in the “Turnhalle”. In 1920, when one of the touring cinema operators was trying to obtain a permanent license at this location, the voices of local people who were thinking of acquiring licensing rights for the village itself began to be heard, which would mean obtaining another source of income. In 1921, the village was awarded a performance license, which was held in the hall of Hotel Merkantile. In 1925, an effort to build your own cinema arises for various reasons. After a public tender, the proposal of Šenov's native, architect Leo Kammel from Vienna, was approved as the most appropriate one. The construction of the cinema was handed over to the construction company in Ústí nad Labem "Rella and nephew". The decisive factor for the adoption of this proposal was, above all, a happy two-purpose solution for both cinema and theater performances. After the completion of the construction, the opening ceremony of the film screenings was followed on November 6, 1926. A year later, on October 12, 1927, the stage was presented with two operas "Cavalleria Rusticana" and "Bajazzo" performed by the male singer "Mannergefangverein 1853" along with the Salonorchestervereinigung “. The stage of the cinema itself was equipped with the latest amenities of modern lighting technology, created for artistic performances of all kinds.
