At this place originally stood the monastery of monks of St. Augustine, rebuilt into a shelter for the old and the poor. The old church was demolished and a new church in the Empire style was built in its place in 1827. There was a cemetery around it, which was abolished in 1904, and a park with a monument to the victims of the Prussian-Austrian war of 1866 was built in its place.
