Zdeněk Kalista is undoubtedly one of the most significant and interesting figures in Czech culture of the last century. He was born on July 22, 1900 in the building of this school (then in New Venice) and died on June 17, 1982 in Prague, he is buried in his hometown. Czech historian, poet, literary critic, editor and translator. In the years 1924–1939 and 1945–1948 he worked at Charles University in Prague, first as an assistant to the historical seminary, and from 1932 as an associate professor. He became one of the victims of political trials and was sentenced to 15 years. He was released in 1960 and retired. Rehabilitated in 1966. Zdeněk Kalista is undoubtedly one of the most prominent and most interesting figures of Czech culture in the last century. He was born on 22 July 1900 in the building of this school and died on 17 June 1982 in Prague, but is buried in his hometown. Czech historian, poet, literary critic, editor and translator. Between 1924-1939 and 1945-1948 he worked at Charles University in Prague first as an assistant of a historical seminary, since 1932 as a lecturer. He became one of the victims of political processes and was sentenced to 15 years. In 1960 he was released and retired. In 1966 he was rehabilitated.
