The impressive building of the Art Nouveau church of St. Adalbert. Church of St. Adalbert The Art Nouveau Roman Catholic Church was built between 1904 and 1905 at the expense of the Association of St. Boniface according to the construction plans of the builder Matěj Blecha. The authorship of the church is attributed to Emil Králíček in professional literature. The building was approved on April 8, 1905, as a temporary building until 1910, because according to the draft regulation of Libno, a street was designed on part of the land. The next day, the church was consecrated by the Holy Bishop František Krásl. Church of St. Vojtěcha is remarkable for his system of brick vertical structures and wooden, intricately shaped roof trusses, with a strong use of wooden decorative and architectural elements. The painting of the church refers to the Art Nouveau fondness for plant motifs. The roof of the tower has the shape of a hexagonal helmet with a point and a poppy on top. The internal division of the temple space is three-aisled. Church of St. As one of the dominants of Prague 8, Vojtěch in Liben is a unique preserved hall building and a unique example of Art Nouveau sacral architecture from the beginning of the 20th century. The construction of the church is all the more important because Art Nouveau as an architectural style did not primarily take into account the sacral architecture of such dimensions. In 1987, the church was declared an immovable cultural monument.

Art Nouveau Roman Catholic Church built between 1904 and 1905 by the Association of St. Boniface according to the project of architect Matěj Blecha, builder in Karlín. At the beginning of the 20th century, the chapel of Libeň Castle did not have enough capacity for the faithful. The need for a larger worship stand in Liben was solved by the offer of the Emmaus Association of St. Bonifác in Prague, which in 1904 offered the Libeň clerical administration to build a temporary church of the Lord. Despite disagreement and obstacles, the Association of St. Boniface with the construction of a church on the leased land of the Košinka homestead, owned by Emanuel and Dr. Hugo Graba. Preparatory work began on October 3, 1904. Shortly before the Easter holidays in 1905, the construction in the main cases was completed and on April 8, 1905, with the participation of the parish priest of Libeň P. Václav Stejskal, it was approved as a temporary building until 1910, because according to the design regulation Libně a street was designed on part of the land. The next day, the church was consecrated by the Holy Bishop František Krásl, and it is estimated that 10,000 people attended the celebration. According to the agreement, the new church was to be dedicated to Blessed Agnes Přemyslovna. However, as no permission was requested to the Vatican in time, the Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal Lev Skrbenský of Hříště, decided that the new church be dedicated to St. Adalbert. This probably happened because the association of St. Boniface published a Czech periodical with the same title. The makeshift church was accompanied by problems from the beginning. Already in September 1905, a large storm with hail hit Libeň, which shattered 22 large and 6 smaller glass panels near the new church. The water flowed into the church through both towers and damaged especially the organ. Further damage was brought by the First World War, on October 28, 1916, bells were removed from the chateau chapel and the new church for the collection of metals. After the abolition of the chapel on Pelc Tyrolce in 1935, the partially damaged inventory was transported to Libno for the needs of the church of St. Adalbert. In the same year, a choir was built and rods were installed above the middle part of the nave. During the repair of the chateau chapel in 1939, the church of St. Vojtěch transferred the altar of the Holy Trinity and the roof of the church was repaired. The repeatedly extended temporary character of the building, combined with the constant hope for the construction of the definitive temple of the Lord, caused neglect of maintenance and gradual decay of the building. The unit for the construction of the Lord's temple in Liben covered only the most necessary needs of the church. At the end of World War II (March 25, 1945), Anglo-American troops raided Prague and heavy bombing hit the Košice region. Bombs dropped on the Sokol playground and the adjacent park shattered the church's windows. On December 1, 1946, a new spiritual administration was established at the Salesians in Kobylisy, and Cyril Ondra became the first pastor. Even in the post-war years, the hope for the construction of a new church was not relevant and after 1948 it completely disappeared. The unity for the founding of the Church of the Lord in Liben, established in 1885, ceased to exist in 1951. The Church of St. Adalbert was still falling into disrepair and it was necessary to proceed to the most necessary repairs in 1947–1948 for safety reasons. For financial reasons, only minor repairs were made, painting and the large window behind the altar was fitted with a metal net. The asbestos roof was also repaired and the place in front of the church entrance was modified. In May and June 1967, the roof was repaired, the tower and eaves were painted, and in May 1970, a new radio was purchased in the church at a cost of CZK 15,000, and speakers were installed on the columns and on the benches. The entire cargo was paid by an unnamed donor to honor the memory of his deceased mother. In July 1972, a storm damaged the roof of the church, which was only emergency secured against rain, and a year later the external plaster and roof covering were repaired. In the years 1986-1988, the exterior of the church was overhauled. However, the work was not carried out in sufficient quality and the subsequent long-term leakage damaged the original polychromy and unique decorative paintings. In the years 1996–2001, at the expense of the City of city of Prague church completely repaired. A copper roof and electrical installations were set up, the restoration of the internal wooden structures was carried out, including the restoration of the original painted ornaments, and the restoration of the internal painting of the walls.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the chapel of Libeň Castle was insufficient for its believers. For this reason, the Art Nouveau Roman Catholic Church was exhibited between 1904 and 1905 at the expense of the Association of St. Boniface according to the project of architect Matěj Blecha, builder in Karlín. Preparatory work began on October 3, 1904. Shortly before the Easter holidays in 1905, the construction was completed and on April 8, 1905, it was approved with the participation of the parish priest of Libeň, only as a commission until 1910, because according to Libna's regulation It finally came to an end, as did the construction of the new church. The temporary building has been repaired several times and still serves as a parish church to the Roman Catholic Church.
