I do not know how today, but some 50 years ago SPŠST in Panská was a recognized and reputable school. I graduated here in 1968, so I greet all my classmates still alive!
Why is Panská the worst choice? First of all, because it's all a lie.
I applied to the film industry because I found a passion in movies. And I cared about developing that passion.
On the open day, everything looked fantastic. They show you around school, show you a film crane and other film equipment. They will take you to a editing room, a photography studio and talk about how artistically focused your field is.
Admissions indicate that it is a dream school and will give you space to use your talent. You don't have to take tests in math, physics or geometry. You just have to take 9 photos, prepare analyzes of the film and answer in a general test who shot the Titanic. The impression is that the film is the only thing that matters.
I am accepted and during the first month my illusions about the school of dreams dissolve. The only thing that counts is math, physics and geometry. All the subjects that seemingly had something to do with the film have a common name. I will give examples.
Studio equipment: Physics and electrical engineering. If you imagine working in a studio with some film technology. You will be disappointed. Most of the time you listen to a monotonous explanation of resistors and electricity resistance calculations.
Film and television production: writing for all ten and economics. Seriously, half of the time you sit at a computer and practice writing all ten, and the other half you fill out a tax return. Forget the connection with the production of the first year and a half of the subject.
Aesthetics of sound: music. Aesthetics of sound - is indeed a noble name, but you do nothing with microphones, you learn notes and sing.
I am not saying that the subjects taught under these names are bad or useless. They just don't have much in common with what they should represent, or Film. And in my opinion, they greatly deceive the candidates, who are then more than disappointed.
Cantors:
I think that the teaching profession is extremely important and insufficiently valued in our society. On the other hand, a minority of teachers can be described as good.
I didn't like that the math teacher poured out his frustration on the student or the whole class because he didn't understand the material. The fact that the geometry teacher tells my mother that she will let me fail because I have poor performances and I'm not trying (the fact that I am a dysgraphist and dyslexic and I have problems with graphic expression, took into account two extra minutes for the test).
I was at that school for 2 years and 3 months. I had about 5 mental breakdowns caused by stress at school. Towards the end, I suffered from depression with the initial stages of burnout. I reached a stage where staying was not an option. I hated every brick in the building.
My departure was the best thing I could ever do.
I am studying at this school and I can not complain, cantors learn - just a great school
I studied Technical Lyceum here and now I am a student of CTU FNSPE. In my opinion, the Technical Lyceum prepares better than the gymnasium for technical schools such as the Czech Technical University, so if you plan to go in the technical direction (and you don't want to be hindered by non-technical subjects that are usually at the gymnasium) then this is the right choice.
I was only here for the Matematika + graduation exam and I have to appreciate the good administration of the exam, everything prepared.
