Relax place
This place remembers Master Saloun and the Bolshevik mob who stole his studio. If there is a chance, stop by.
Within the diverse activities of the Academy of Fine Arts with the participation of foreign experts, a special place has an international program of creative practice called Studio of a Visiting Artist.
Since 2007, there have been 19 internationally renowned personalities who, in the form of one-semester internships, share their practical professional experience with selected students.
The studio of the guest artist is located in a national cultural monument, the Art Nouveau villa of the sculptor Ladislav Šaloun in Vinohrady.
The focus and theme of the semester internship will be presented by the guest artist personally at the introductory lecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Methods of working with students differ from established practices in home studios mainly in offering the possibility of group creative practice (except for their own work) and emphasis on participatory forms of artistic expression.
Students can test models reminiscent of the professional conditions of authorial production of exhibitions and artifacts, events intended for public space and get information about the functioning of the art apparatus and the position of the artist elsewhere in the world. This creates space for them to compare the state of their own work with international expectations and standards.
The studio meetings are arranged with the guest artist at the beginning of the semester (usually twice a week). Students are expected to be actively engaged in the full time range and willing to work collectively.
Communication in the studio is in English.
The sculptor Ladislav Šaloun (1870-1946) decided to build his own studio after winning the competition in 1900 with his design for a monument to Master Jan Hus on Old Town Square in Prague. The Art Nouveau studio was built on the outskirts of Vinohrady in the years 1908-1910. In 1945, the villa was severely damaged during the bombing. In the years 2006-2007, the studio was reconstructed, which was in a state of disrepair. In October 2007, after the reconstruction, the studio was reopened as a teaching space for visiting teachers from abroad.
House as artwork. The unmistakable creation of modernism is beginning to happen. 20 st. The enormous atelier also serves the work of artists. Only some external details did not escape the malice of the nails.
