A beautiful Renaissance church, which is part of the Strahov Monastery. It is used for exhibitions.

The Church of St. Roch is a Renaissance church located in the grounds of the Strahov Monastery in Prague. At the beginning of the 17th century, it was built by Emperor Rudolf II. as a thank you for averting a plague epidemic. The architect of the church is not known, but it was probably a personality associated with the imperial court. It was originally a parish church of the Strahov parish. During the reign of Joseph II. it was abolished in 1784 and the nearby monastery church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary was declared a parish church in its place. For a short time it served only as a chapel for the dead and was subsequently used as a smithy. An exhibition hall has been located here with breaks since the 1970s. In the vicinity of the church, in the middle of the Strahov courtyard, there is a stone column with a total height of seven meters with figural decoration of St. Norbert. The pylon is made of coarse-grained Zhovovice sandstone. The column consists of a pedestal on which a twice-graded plint rests, which continues through a stem with entasis. The column ends with an ionic head with festoons. A saint holding a monstrance in his right hand, a cross in the left patriarch. Beneath his right foot lies the body of the heretic Tanchelm. The column was made in 1631 by Václav Raussel and Zachariáš Bossi, probably on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the transfer of the remains of St. Norbert from Magdeburg to Bohemia. The work of art has undergone several modifications. During the last restoration in 2004, a metal roof was restored above the statue.
