The Municipal Library in Cheb is today the oldest public library in the Czech Republic, which has already been built as a public library and continues to operate in its original premises. Its building is a cultural monument, an important example of Cheb Art Nouveau architecture. It officially opened on February 12, 1911. As the Czech Public Library, it opened on October 28, 1946 after World War II.
