Very interesting building in the middle of the Way of the Cross

In 1702, the monk Faltýn donated a rare painting of the Virgin Mary of St. Mary to the parish of Vlachovo Březí. A wooden chapel was built on the hill where he rested with the painting, now a branch church of the Holy Spirit stands above this place above Vlachový Březí. In 1851, a Stations of the Cross was built to the church with 14 chapels at the expense of the village. Chapel of St. Ducha was founded in the second half of the 18th century by the Count of the Černín family from Chudenice. The octagonal chapel with a dome was modified in 1903 by adding a smaller nave. The paintings in the dome date from 1903, the altar with the image of the Descent of the Holy Spirit from the second half of the 18th century. Inside the pilgrimage chapel there are fourteen relief wood carvings of the Stations of the Cross. Also of interest is the original painting depicting the battle of Hradec Králové from 1866, hung here as a Thanksgiving for the happy return of the Vlachobřez soldiers who took part in this battle. The place is magical, it is said that it was a sacred place for the Celts. That is why a church was built here. Especially in summer there is peace in the shade of old linden trees.
