The Roman Catholic Church of St. James the Greater in Pomezí nad Ohří is a valuable, originally Romanesque building. According to a record from the diocesan register in Regensburg, it was built in the 10th century. Of the oldest construction phases, the choir and the triumphal arch have been preserved. Today's appearance of the church comes from its last, late Baroque reconstruction in the years 1798 to 1799. The church is in a state of disrepair and is not used for worship. However, it is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The local parish ceased to exist in 2003 by merging with the Cheb parish. The devastated interior of the church with the remains of the altars was freely accessible, the building in a desolate state was transferred to the village. The church is single-nave with a rectangular presbytery and a vestibule in front of the western facade. The massive side tower has a polygonal top floor and is topped by an onion-shaped dome. The church used to be mostly Baroque furnishings, later supplemented and planted with several valuable Gothic statues of saints, which are now preserved elsewhere.

Hats off, what our Czech neighbors have made of this place. On the way to Cheb a stop and relax
